Now in their 48th year, King Crimson will be returning to America in the Fall of 2017! The new dates see the group performing in some states and cities that have not been visited in a while. Atlanta, Georgia, for example, last had live Crimson music in 2001, while Texas has experienced something of an epic Crimson drought since 1974, not counting ProjeKct Three's week-long residency in the Lone Star state during March 1999.

With three drummers up front including Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey, as well as the return of multi-instrumentalist Bill Reiflin on keyboards, guitarist, and original founding member, Robert Fripp, states that this “double quartet formation” is likely to make more noise than ever before. Rounding out the eight piece line up are guitarist and vocalist Jakko Jakszyk, long-time bassist Tony Levin, and saxophonist Mel Collins, who was a mainstay of Crim from 1970-1972.
As well as standard tickets, the band's label, DGM, also has announced sale of VIP Royal Packages, limited to just 60 per show. Details can be viewed at the label's interactive and recently redeveloped website, www.dgmlive.com.
Here's what the press have raved about King Crimson's summer 2017 North American tour:
“On our final evening at the festival, we were witness to the concert that inevitably proved to be its highlight...The blend of mood, melody, ambiance and atmosphere dazzled the audience, which responded with frequent standing ovations.” - Lee Zimmerman, Goldmine Magazine
“Complex musical structures, the power, the intensity and the flight of guitars, flutes and especially drums, the progressive rock of King Crimson unfolded like never...With a dense and complex performance that perfectly coincided with the title of the tour entitled Radical Action, King Crimson took over all the years of his long career, offered new material and transported the music lovers to their rich universe and especially without compromise.” - YVES LECLERC, Journal de Quebec
“Fripp and his band offered an impeccable performance in two stages. No melodies, no flapping, only musicians at the top of their art.” - IAN BUSSIÈRES La Presse, Quebec
“The band finally reaps all that it has sown in its many transformations...the company of the good old days got its money's worth! In short, the king is not dead, far from it, and they still rejoice.” - Réjean Beaucage, Voir.ca
There was an undeniable nostalgic thrill to these songs, but considering the unconventional setup and the band's longstanding aversion to living in the past, they weren't presented as museum pieces...this remained a celebration from a band that has found a way to honour the scope of its legacy without abandoning its avant-garde principles. Crimson has never sounded more complete, or more joyous, on stage than it does now.” - Jordan Zivitz, Montreal Gazette
“The eclectic setlist covered the bands forty plus years, beginning with 1973's 'Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part One' earmarked by one of several Mel Collins' exemplary solos, then jumped a decade later for the fluid 'Neurotica' with Fripp’s hyper-kinetic guitar riffs perched alongside a dizzying high tempo jazz beat. The uniqueness of seeing each of these seasoned musicians working is near indescribable and has to be experienced live, to fully embrace their vision - think of eight master painters working in their own style, but on a common canvas, and you begin to get the idea of things.” - We Heart Music, Minneapolis
“As part of their 17-show 'Radical Action Tour 2017,' King Crimson made a stop at the Greek Theatre for what can only be succinctly described as nearly three hours of absolute musical bliss — subtle and pastoral on one hand, a cacophony of sonic thrusts on the other.” - Shawn Perry Vintage Rock
“While their strong EP of new originals 'Heroes,' (in tribute to David Bowie) has devoted fans pleased and open-eared, it's the rarities from the back catalog that haven’t been played in decades or ever that make this tour's lineup exceptionally strong. Astounding as it was, King Crimson still has the propensity to tackle songs from all over their vast catalog, while incessantly adding new intersections and elements.” - Dylan Muhlberg, Grateful Web
In other news:
The band has recently released “The Elements Of King Crimson 2017 Tour Box.” As with previous releases in the “Elements” series, the full variety of King Crimson's music is presented over 2 CDs! Featuring extracts from rehearsals, new live recordings, elements from studio recordings, full tracks, alternate takes and finished recordings from 1969-2016, many of which make their first appearance on CD.
Every line-up is featured across the double CD set. Of particular interest on the new set is the inclusion on disc 2 of every part of “Larks' Tongues in Aspic” (some studio, some live) from “Part I” to “Level 5” – interspersed with elements taken from the original studio sessions and rehearsals.
Packaged in a DVD-sized fold out digipak style book case with a 24 page booklet including sleeve notes by co-compiler Sid Smith, photos of memorabilia, full info about the 2016 tour and a number of band and individual photos of the current band line-up.
Also, coinciding with the first leg of the tour, King Crimson released a CD EP titled “Heroes - Live In Europe, 2016.” Recorded in Berlin during the band's 2016 European tour., the EP was released on June 2nd 2017 and, along with “The Elements Of King Crimson 2017 Tour Box,” can be ordered via the shops at www.dgmlive.com as well as available through traditional retail outlets. The US based Schizoid Shop has recently added a range of new shirts and other band-related merchandise, and offers weekly specials including offers to win free tour tees. www.schizoidshop.com.

Southern Californian rock trio RADIO MOSCOW has just delivered the masters of its fifth studio album, “New Beginnings”, which is set for release via their new label home, Century Media Records, on September 29, 2017.
The album’s striking cover artwork was created by artist Courtney Cole and photographer Dana Trippe with lettering coming from Robin Gnista. “New Beginnings” was recorded at Lost Ark Studio in San Diego with Mike Butler, produced by the band’s own Parker Griggs and mastered by Mark Chalecki at Little Red Book Mastering.
As a sneak peek at what to expect, check out a video of a radio session take of the album’s first track, “New Beginning”: https://www.vuhaus.com/videos/radio-moscow-new-beginning
“New Beginnings” Track Listing:
1. New Beginning (WATCH)
3. Woodrose Morning
5. No One Knows Where They've Been
6. Last to Know
7. New Skin
9. Pick up the Pieces
"New Beginnings" will be released as regular black and limited-edition colored LP+CD (including a poster designed by Robin Gnista) as well as on CD, and all digital/streaming platforms.
Right on time with the release of their new opus, the band has confirmed the “The Drifting Tour”, which will drown Europe from September 26 to October 31 in waves of fuzzy, hard rocking riffs and sweaty, cranked up blues!
Prior to that, RADIO MOSCOW will perform at several European festivals as well as head over to the UK for a mini tour in August with support coming from The Groundhogs. Furthermore, a US west coast tour has been recently added. Full dates can be found listed below.
Formed in 2003, the power trio led by Stratocaster genius Parker Griggs carved their own sonic niche fusing crunching, heavy Sabbath-style chords with fiery ‘Hendrixian’ solos and a raw intensity that is addictive and captivating. From the self-titled debut back in 2007, which was produced by Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, over to last year’s “Live! In California”, RADIO MOSCOW proved to be not just a cheap time machine but a direct descendant from the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll!

"True to its name, Wolves In The Throne Room has always painted between the lines of barbaric and regal. For over a decade it has been this between-space that has driven WITTR's power; burning black-metal riffs communing with mystical folk and ambient music." - NPR
In preparation for their September 22nd release of Thrice Woven, Wolves in the Throne Room have announced an extensive U.S. tour shortly after the album’s street date. Set to run from September 29th through October 25th with support from Pillorian, the tour will take the bands from coast to coast - check out the full routing listed below.
Since their inception in 2002, over the course of 5 studio albums and hundreds of live performances, Wolves in the Throne Room have refracted Black Metal through their own Cascadian prism. Their songs explore the hidden world of magic that one accesses through dreams, visions and music and the resulting sounds are intimately linked to the wild lands of the Pacific Northwest. Now, a portal into the dreamworld of Wolves in the Throne Room opens again with their forthcoming sixth LP, Thrice Woven - a glorious return to the blazing and furious Black Metal that they alone can create.
Look for Thrice Woven to be available September 22nd on Wolves in the Throne Room’s own label, Artemisia. Additionally, check out the music video for “Born from the Serpent’s Eye” here.

Scorching fires out west have been dominating the landscape, filling the air with smoke and ash in the last month or so. Bandcamp has been ablaze for other reasons. Last round I featured some of the best of bandcamp mid-year recap. This round I’m going back to showing off some of the new finds that keep the year moving in a positive direction. At some point you’d think it would start slowing down, but the music just keeps releasing and it blows my mind every time. Check out the latest batch of Bandcamp Bonanza face melters.
Second Coming of Heavy – Chapter 6: Kayleth / Favequaid
Splits seem to be gaining traction as of late. Ripple has not only taken the special edition split vinyl to the next level, they have done it with class. Look at the art package that being featured on each chapter by Ghosttown Graphics. It’s just insane and to know that the splines will create an image when stacked together at the end of the 10 chapter saga, it begs for complete discography collectors to hop aboard. Each chapter features two up and coming heavy rocking bands. Chapter 6 is on fire.
Chapter 6 brings us another round of bands with their first appearance on Ripple. This is a perfect combination of atmospheric riffs and high octane rock songs. Kayleth bring the expansive grooves straight from outer space while Favequaid deliver us an undisputed punky grit layered with tasty chops. It seems each Chapter brings a new favorite. The saga gets better and better and the artwork is intense. Cannot wait to receive my OBI vinyl edition and complete the entire set.Favorite track: Favequaid - Everytime.
Sun Rider – III
Another band with exquisite artwork in their catalog, Sun Rider bring a sludge stained stoner metal to the party with monster riffs and scarred vocal tones that combine to make a heavy blues album that comes out similar in output to the band HARK, but less progressive and more bluesy. Check out their entire discography and you’ll be considering hitting that buy button on the vinyl even though the shipping is insanely pricey.
Howling Giant – Black Hole, Space Wizard: Part 2
Now here is a band to keep your eyes on. These dudes from Nashville know how to write a great song and keep it accessible with a wide range of polish, but they also know how to maintain a heavy ass energy. I just can’t say enough good things. Each release that comes out of these guys brains is a new favorite. Part 2 is intense.
Howling Giant return with Part 2 of the BHSW saga launching rocket fueled riffs beyond the atmospheric boundary of standard hard rock fare. Astronautical fuzz echoes over metallic solos as the progressive harmonies consume by way of gravitational force. Part 2 is a gorgeous and monolithic slab of stoner metal that'll have you begging for more. Keep your eyes on these guys. They're going places.
The Last Coyote – Gunfighter Tales
I found these guys using the method of checking the bandcamp new section by genre, and randomly stumbled over these guys.
This is the kind of music I yearn for. Sifting through the bandcamp vaults today The Last Coyote makes its presence known. Gun smoking melodies crackle with bluesy strums and outlaw wales across the western prairie like a flaming ring of mountain fire.
Between the Lines – Between the Lines
This is refreshing and suffocating at the same time. There were parts that had that 15 years old nostalgia going on, yet it stands out in the field of hard rock.
The bass slaps like a sack of balls against a kilted thigh as the dark, brooding groove hymns Between the Lines of crunchy distorted rock and goth enhanced grunge. For fans of Tool and freaks alike, this debut will steamroll your expectations of an Irish rock band.
Hair of the Dog – This World Turns
Last but certainly not least Hair of the Dog came out with a new album this year. I am a huge fan of this band which required that I pre-order the vinyl to go with the first two albums I scrounged together last year. Pretty stoked on this new one, it gets better every time you play it and I find it ranking high on many year-end lists’
Hair of the Dog is the type of band you can play in the morning to ease the bangover from witnessing their show the night before. This World Turns exemplifies all that is heavy rock taking the band to future cult classic status and showing no signs of losing hide. The melodies echo lean distorted glory with progressive riffs, bar worthy balladry and intricate snarls of rock and roll fury. Can't deny this as one of the best hard rock albums of 2017. Vinyl ordered. Just look at those colors on the cover. This is the full package. Favorite track: This World Turns.
That ought to keep you busy for a bit. I’ve got more on deck for future Bonanza Bonanza features and it shows no signs of slowing down. Let it burn!

EYEHATEGOD continues to deafen the masses in support of their self-titled LP which dropped in 2014 via Housecore Records, breaking the band's decade-and-a-half gap since their prior full-length and marking the most successful release of the band's storied history. Consequence Of Sound called the record, "...their most entertaining release since 1996's Dopesick... urgent and raw, as if the band hasn't aged a day," Pitchfork gushed, "they've come out swinging, armed with yet another of their often-renewed leases on life and still spoiling for a fight. That EyeHateGod exists at all is a miracle in and of itself, but the fact that it is so damn great is simply extraordinary." Added Metal Injection, "in terms of consistency and sheer 'fuck yeah!'-ness. this is right up there in that first tier of must have EYEHATEGOD platters. Welcome back, boys. You earned it."
In related news, EYEHATEGOD's Take As Needed For Pain full-length (1993) recently earned the #92 spot on Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time list, the esteemed publication noting, "Standouts, such as 'Blank' and the title track hammer the listener with turbulent riffs before downshifting into heaving swing rhythms that drive home the band's fluency in the funkier aspects of NOLA's musical culture. 'Sister Fucker (Pt. 1),' meanwhile, marries vile imagery with hip-shaking boogie rock. The band found the perfect foil in engineer Robinson Mills, whose warm, no-frills tones complemented Williams' acrid screech, the menacing swells of feedback on tracks like "30$ Bag" and unsettling police-scanner-inspired noise piece 'Disturbance.' While bands such as Crowbar and the Southern supergroup Down (which features EYEHATEGOD guitarist Jimmy Bower behind the drums) would also serve as able ambassadors for New Orleans metal, none of them would capture the city's seedy rebel spirit quite as effectively as EYEHATEGOD did here." Read more and see the full list at THIS LOCATION.
The band will be celebrating their thirtieth anniversary next year. Stay tuned for special releases to be announced in the future. In the meantime, orders for EyeHateGod in North America can be placed via Housecore Records HERE. Additionally, the official For The Sick Benefit poster and benefit T-shirt are still available for purchase at Indie Merch HERE.
SPOTIFY II DEEZER II ITUNES II MUSIC VIDEO II ORDER LP/CD
September 1st marks the release date of Night's third full length album "Raft of the World" which will be released through The Sign Records. The album consists of 9 ravishing rock hymns forged together by the band during the fall of '16, and signifies a musical progression of the band towards a more rock-based sound - without leaving their trademarked sharp edged NWOBHM attitude. With a modern take on classic rock 'n' roll combined with more sinister lyrical themes, this album invites the listener on an increasingly organic and diverse journey compared to its predecessors. "Raft of the World" was recorded, produced and mixed by Ola Ersfjord (Tribulation, Dead Lord, Lizzies, Honeymoon Disease) with additional recordings (drums & bass) by Linus Lundgren at Studio Ganymeden in their hometown Linköping. Ola Ersfjord contributed to a broader production and soundscape including instruments such as organs, acoustic guitars and percussion to name a few, which they consider has brought the album a unique sound that stands out in comparison to other contemporary rock bands. Mastering was done by Chris Common (The Mars Volta, Chelsea Wolfe, Mastodon) and the artwork is made by the talented artist Mattias Frisk (Ghost, Vanhelgd, Vampire, Trap Them).
Night is a quartet hailing from the plains of Östergötland, Sweden. They started out back in 2011 and have released two full length albums and two 7" singles followed by several tours and festival gigs (Muskelrock, Hell over Hammaburg, Headbangers open air, Metal frenzy) all over Europe. Known for their fierce and intense live performances, Night have built up a reputation as an entity to count on. Today the band consists of Oskar (vocals, electric guitar), Sammy (electric guitar), Joesph (electric bass guitar) and Dennis (battery).
"This album is a progression of the whole concept that is Night - both personally and musically. I felt a dire need to express myself on a more personal level, which hasn't really been a priority for me before we started to work on the new songs. Living in a world gone mad, constantly surrounded by people who's lifestyle is basically rooted in greed unfortunately brings out the worst in otherwise "good" people. It makes you think about what is actually important in life which also triggers the creative and philosophical flow that I really think has been manifested in the new songs."
- Oskar, Night

Maya Jane Coles is set to release her second studio album Take Flight, due out August 25 on her own label I/AM/ME via Skint Records/BMG. Take Flight is her most substantial body of work to date and is the long-awaited follow-up to her debut album Comfort (2013) and her Nocturnal Sunshine project (2015).
Take Flight will be released in the US on digital and vinyl formats. Fans can pre-order the album HERE. The two tracks "Won't Let You Down" and "Cherry Bomb" are available now for streaming and instant download with the full album iTunes pre-order.
Take Flight has been preceded by the critically-acclaimed EP Won’t Let You Down, which is receiving worldwide support from DJs in the clubs and on the radio - Pete Tong made the title track his “Essential New Tune." Featuring remixes of "Won’t Let You Down" from Catz ’n Dogz and Paride Saranceni, "Cherry Bomb," plus "Round In Circles," the EP’s various tracks saw premieres with Wonderland, Mixmag, Complex, Groove, and Huffington Post. A further EP entitled Weak/Werk will drop imminently!
Maya is an enigma in today’s music world. On this album – as with all her releases – she has written, produced, engineered, arranged, mixed, and performed every track, even designing the artwork herself.
Opening track "Weak" kicks off the album with sublime soundscapes and low-slung drums, with title track "Take Flight" offering a trip-hop inspired beat with a psychedelic twist. In addition, the album sees guest appearances from acoustic-songwriter Chelou on "Darkside," which is slow, vivid and totally immersive. Wendy Rae Fowler (of We Fell To Earth) sings on "A Chemical Affair" and "Misty Morning," with GAPS singing on the track that follows entitled "Keep Me Warm."
From the high octane "Passing Me By" to the visceral "Trails," Take Flight offers an eclectic selection of immersive tracks that are certain to excite old and new fans alike, all over the world.
Maya has already experienced a phenomenal year of global gigs, starting with a double-header at Coachella in April and UK festivals such as Parklife and Wildlife, as well as on going appearances throughout the Summer in Ibiza at Ushuaia and Pacha. Maya is also on the road this July supporting electronic titans Depeche Mode on the European leg of their tour. Additional upcoming festival appearances include Tomorrowland (Belgium), SW4 (UK), Creamfields (UK) and Rock in Rio (Brazil), amongst others.
To date, Maya has played in over 40 countries worldwide, released mix compilations for DJ Kicks and Fabric Live, been sampled on Nicki Minaj’s mega hit “Truffle Butter,” as well as remixed artists from The XX, Bonobo, and Little Dragon.. to Florence & The Machine, Sam Smith and Ella Fitzgerald.
